Just wondering if theres any good ice in the Irish Hills area? thinking about going out tomorrow afternoon. Can anyone suggest a lake in this area or around the area that has good fishing for gills and panfish? want to stray away from wamplers and all the other overfished lakes in the area so if anyone can suggest something it would be appreciated. Thanks, Chris.

Wait until Friday and go to the Artesian Wells Resteraunt/Bar. I here the ice is real good when Scotch is poured over it in a glass. Plus for 9.95 you can eat all the Walleye you can stomach.
Seriously though, your asking guys to give up their fishing spots above the norm (Wamplers etc...).....That's like asking where our Morel spots are..:yikes: Good luck with this one!

I ll give you one spot. Its a lake called cranberry lake. its south of Clark Lake about 5 miles. I m sure you can google it. its no big secret. Not huge gills but you should limit on 8 inch gills or 9 inch crappies depending what you run into. You have to park on the side of the road but its legal to park there. There will be people there so just fish around them. They should be fishing in 14-16 fow usuallly wax worms and a chartruese colored jig work well this early in the year.

Thank you I appreciate the suggestion. Oh and Sandwich when did I ask someone to give up their fishing spots? I know how hard good fishing spots are to come by and I did not ask anyone specifically for any spots. I just dont like all the hype that surrounds wamplers and Ive never done that well there. There is plenty lakes in the area that are public and im just looking for a little advice on some new lakes to try. But thanks anyways for your input.

there are no secret spots ! they all have fish ! they all have access and have maps to study . just have to go out and figure it out - and the next time out the fish will move and have to start over again ! thats fishing . but it is nice to know the ice thickness and if anyone has had success and what depth ! jackson has always been secretive ! but that is changing ! just check out the jackson ice reports ! there are over 100 lks and any report i give - i know the fish have moved and i move too ! that is key

I fished Sand on Saturday afternoon. Was unable to find large shiner minnows so I just ended up using suckers and set up a couple of tip-ups. Sat there and watched for flags while having coffee for a few hours. Not a single thing going on. Ice was about 5" with a lot of snow on top. I was the only person fishing that I could see.
