I was just thinking this would make a good poll. I have been a bucket carrying guy for a lot of years. I have had a couple shanty's ,but i thought they are too much to drag around. i also bought a jet sled jr. last year . It is very nice and helps a lot. . I really use three different methods.
Most of the time in decent weather its just me and 1 bucket.Fishfinder, lures , 2 rods, and auger. That's why I got rid of the minnows too. I stand and jig. Come better ice and longer walks ,the jet sled helps out a lot. especially those long walks at geno's and selfridge.
On days when I know the temperature is going to top out below 20 I drag out the shanty. i have the lightest one i could buy with a floor. It weighs about 30 pounds.
I was just wondering what everyone else does? Nobody really talks about it much.

If the wife comes, she has to have everything so i use a sled. If it is just me, i will put my tip-ups, poles, lures/ bait and a chair in a back pack.( with the tips of the rods sticking ouy the top). Then i have 2 hands to switch the auger between. If i catch fish i use plastic bag and put them in my backpack.

Get a Beagel...They will pull your stuff. Of course you may have to wait a few hours till they smell EVERY SQUARE INCH of the lake first but they show up EVENTUALLY!!!!!
I am normally a spud/auger and bucket over the shoulder guy. Gettin' too old for that chit.:p My shanty is too heavy.(Very old style)
After we get 10" of ice or so I take the truck.:dizzy: Never felt real comfortable that way. Too many things can go wrong.:yikes:
Hoping to get a quad soon but I need a good used one. I think i'll post in the classifieds.

We walk.
That has been a long standing issue for me too. Getting out there. I am 50 at 200 lbs and pulling out all the equipment is a chore. I need the shanty, heater, drinks (juice or water), auger, chair or chairs, two five gallon buckets full of equipment and three layers of clothing.
When my son comes out I feel like I only have a mild heart attach. When I am alone I feel like a full fledge heart attach is moments away. I can't get out as far as I would like but that is not always key.
I do have a four wheel drive quad but it is up at the cabin and weights
around 1,000 lbs. If I were to bring it home for the winter I would have to buy a trailer and storage is an issue at my house. I have been thinking about it though. Once the ice is a foot thick I think the quad would be real nice. It's just more money and more work in some ways.

Built a sled to pull the shanty and gear around. Startin to get too old a decrepit to do that anymore........gotta get some mobility or just return to carrying a bucket around.

It depends on who goes and how long I plan to fish. No ATV or snow machine here so I always walk. When I'm solo which is the majority of the time I pull my Clam Fish Trap. It is the Scout model and is relatively light. Minows, bucket, auger, and a few essentials and I'm quickly and easily mobile. When I take a friend or my olders boys go It's the Shappell 4000 and a jet sled. When that is the case I usually don't move much if at all. Some days when the big shanty and sled goes so does a stove/grill, a pot of soup or chili, and dogs or brats. Those days are not always the most productive, but are always the most fun. Don't usually drag all that stuff to far but it is worth the hassel for an all dayyer.

I cant get away with using anything but my legs out on the ice.

All I get are those "get your young, lazy ass off that ATV and let me have a ride" looks from all of you old men:16suspect

So its all buckets and legs for me

Drag everything out in either my Clam Pro or Voyager. In this snow the voyager is not getting out till I test this setup more.

we usually take the shanty, auger, folding chairs, bait bucket, 2- 2 liters of pepsi and my ice fishing box that i made a few years back. it is 26 x 14 x 14. it has a hinged lid and holds all 18 rod/reel combos, tip-ups, minnow scoop, ice scoop, small shovel, ice creapers, all bait in containers, 4 plano ice jig boxes,4 extra fuel tanks for the buddy heater, extra line in various lb test, and some handwarmers. there is room in the box for my bibs and heavy coat for the longer walks.

the box and buddy heater go into the jet sled jr. the rest of the equipment goes on top of the folded up shanty. it sounds like A TON O' STUFF, but it pulls surprisingly easy.

we may not catch many, if any, fish but we are comfy and have what we could ever need on the ice.:fish:

I have a small sled, I travel light, especially if I'm just canal fishing. Two buckets, 4 rods, 2 chairs, auger is all, if I'm fishing the bay or it's going to be windy I'll bring the shanty but I didn't have to do that last year at all - Bryon

18 Rod and reel combos!!! Ya' know that when you tie on a jig you're not obgligated to leave it on the same rod.
