Hi all,
I'm trying to decide what the difference is between 15DX and 20DX.
I won't be fishing salmon with them, just walleye behind planer boards.
I'll likely only use them 2 or 3 times a year with 10lb mono.
Is the 15 stout enough to get the job done?

I would think that they should work just fine. I use the 17 size Diawas with no problems. C-man

I've used 10lb. Trilene XT for years with no problems.

I have 4 of the 20's with 10lb test that I use for Walleye with no problems
The 15's and 20's have the same gear ratio with the 20's holding a little more line.
Model Gear ratio Bearings Weight Line retrieve Monofilament line capacity(diameter in mm.)
MA-15DX 5.1:1 2BB 13.2 23" 330/10 (0.30), 290/12 (0.32), 240/14 (0.35)
MA-20DX 5.1:1 2BB 13.8 23" 290/14 (0.35), 230/18 (0.40), 210/20 (0.42)
MA-30DX 4.0:1 2BB 17.3 24" 510/15 (0.37), 420/20 (0.42), 310/25 (0.48)
I also have a set of the 30's as well
But I really like the 20's over the 30's

I bought 8 of the MA20DX for this last season and they worked out well. I will add 2 more this Spring to take the place of a Penn #9 for backups. For $25 a reel they are decent for walleye.:)

Thanks guys! I just got myself 4 of those reels on the 7'6" rods for Christmas.
My next post will be a rod holder question :)
