Have you guys heard of this? I work gander mt and a guy came in today and said that drilling your ice hole on an angle helps so much because it makes it easier for the fish to come out. He says they just slide right out and you hardly have any hang-ups.

I would think it would make it easier to cut you line on that sharp edge you are constantly running you line against as well. Plus I have enough trouble with a straight hole.

On the Saginaw River when the ice gets thicker, I always angle my holes downstream. It does seem to help getting those Eyes into the hole easier................Patch

I would think if your using a braid, it might be a good idea. Mono might be a problem. I'll have to give it a try.

The only place I have seen this done is in Saginaw and the Thames, in current it does seem to help.

:yeahthat::yeahthat: the current in the river pulls you line to the downstream side of the hole and if you get it at the right angle you can stop your line from hitting the edge of the hole

I drill mine at an angle for my spearing shack. I drill 4 holes close to each other at an outward angle then connect with a spud. It increases visibility alot.
