Anyone hear any updates on the transportation fee of firearms from the US to Canada? I personally do not think it is all that bad a thing, provided the fee is reasonable. However, I have heard that they are thinking $100 per gun for each crossing starting in 2001. I haven't had time to look into this subject, but a few guys I hunt with that travel are very upset about this. If anyone knows where I can get more info let me know.

Thanks

3006,
You might want to try www.miducks.com (http://www.miducks.com) and scroll down to the bottom. I believe that they have a section called "Canadian rules and regulations", or something similar. I have read it in the past but don't remember the particulars. I do remember that it sounded like the Canadians were going to nickel and dime American sporstmen to death. Guess they got to make up the difference since we opened that MGM casino in Detroit....they have lost part of thier main source of revenue to Ontario (heh, heh, heh). Good luck.

As of right now there is still no fee to bring firearms across the border, at least for this year, and I would be surprised if anything came out until 2003, they're still fighting the registration thing up here. I also would be surprised if it was as much as $100 if it does go through. Of course, you have to remember that $100 Canadian is only $60 US.
