I got up at 7:00 am sat. and was watching behind the house. I was about to let the dogs out, I should have let the pom out by him self for coyote bait(LOL), anyways I took one more look at about 7:40 and there was a yote by the garage, 50 yards from the house!!! I ran and got my 7mm mag and got him standing at about 175 yards!!! That was with my deer load, 162 gr bt. It only put a 1" exit hole in the hide. it was a 32# male. I tore it up worse than the bullet did!!! It sure was'nt easy skinning him!!! I could use some pointers in this area!!!
There is a bigger one still out there and another one with a reddish coat. They have been seen all week!!!

Nimrod, You got to get up early to get them Coyotes! Get yourself the Winter 2001 issue of Outdoor Life. It has a great section on predator hunting and a detailed diagram with instructions for skinning. Not sure how long the issue is supposed to be on the stands but get it if you can. Also, check with a taxidermist or a trapper, if you know one, he can show you how to skin it. I gotta get me one. I'd like a nice pelt for my den/office.

Nice shooting Nimrod!!
A 7Mag wouldnt exactly be my first choice of a Coyote gun, but hey, whatever is handy,Eh? :p

There is an article in the Dec/Jan copy of the American Hunting Club magazine about using dogs to lure Coyotes into range. Sounds like you have that one all figured out already though. :)

Good job !!! I'd like to get one of those critters myself. Very few around my house, but I'd like to stop them while I can.
