Good Day,

Hi all! I thought I would take a moment to announce the first annual Celebration of Fly-Tying to be held Saturday, February 28, 2009 and hosted by the Grand River Fly Tiers (GRFT). It will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 5830 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming, Michigan. This facility on the south side of Grand Rapids is the perfect venue for this event. There may be as many as forty tyers at this special event. The hall is more than large enough handle more tiers but we want everyone to be very comfortable. We have commitments from some of the top tiers in the midwest such as Ray Schmidt, Chris Helm, Julie Nielsen, Jeff Andrews, Dick Walle, Dennis Potter, Christopher Soule, Mike Schmidt and many more. There will be no fund-raiser, auction or raffle. This day is all about fly tying. There will be no vendors. However, tyers will be allowed to sell flies or instructional material. The hall will provide a food vendor in case you get hungry. A “Close-UP Video Tying Theater” will be set up on the stage featuring celebrity tiers throughout the day. Two 32 inch LCD monitors will ensure that everyone watching will be able to see the fly in great macro detail. Think Mason but a bit more intimate and not in a pole barn... The potential is there for this to be one of the premier tying shows in the region. So mark your calendars and make sure to join us on February 28 at the Knights of Columbus hall at 5830 Clyde Park SW. See you there!
