Folks,

I offer over 9 years of manufacturing experience in Commodity Management and Process Engineering. I am a Six Sigma Greenbelt, and have over 5 years of management experience of 15 direct reports. I have saved over $1 Million per year over the past 5 years with effective cost savings project management. I am a certified ISO 9001/14001 auditor for quality and environmental compliance. I am skilled in SPC, 5 why, 5S, ERP and MRP systems, negotiating with suppliers, creating purchase orders, financial tracking, and six sigma methodologies. I hold a Bachelors degree in Biology/Chemistry. I have received awards several times for my efforts and dedication.
I am seeking a Commodity Management position such as Senior Buyer, Purchasing Agent, Supplier Development, etc. Utilizing my Six Sigma and excellent project management background, I am also open to a Chemical Process/Project Engineer or a Lean Engineer position. I am preferring to stay in the Detroit area, but would be willing to relocate for the right position.

If you or someone you know is seeking an aggressive, honest, hard-working individual for one of these or a similar position, please contact me via PM and I would be happy to provide a resume and any professional references needed.

Thanks for looking,
Kurt

There are a couple of places up here that are expanding. Check out Merrill Technology Group, mtghr.com, and Hemlock Semiconductor. Good luck.

Kurt......You need to check out TACOM (Government job). There are beginning to open the flood gates there. Since they are closing the Rock Island arsenal due to BRAC all those jobs (approx 1200) will transfer here to Warren. Purchasing/procurment will be one of those specialities.

I have contacts at BASF and they can't get me anything (maybe I need new contacts!)

I applied for the TACOM job (2) in Warren, however with over 1,800 applicants for those 2 jobs plus the one in Grand Rapids, I was SOL (yes that is almost two thousand people applying for 3 jobs). Qualified, yes. Among the most qualified - according to them, no.

I told the wife if nothing comes up by September, I will enroll and go back to school over the winter to get a Masters in something TBD (environmental science perhaps). Can't believe a guy with a Bach in a technical discipline and almost 10 years of success and awards won't cut the mustard these days.

Thanks for thinking of me!

I left a part time job at (B)Lowes and they hired a guy with a B.A. from UofM and paying him the same crap wage that i was makeing, doing the same crap job i was doing.
WE just hired a new guy at my new job and he also has a BA with 5 years. Started him at $30,000.00.
I think to get your real worth you need to go out of state. Michigan wont be a player until the economy turns around in we all know that will take years.

In Mid-Michigan Chemical process techs and Lab Techs employment is going up 6.2% mostly to HSC (hemlock semiconductor) That place is hiring alot of people and i know alot that have gone there and now they are raking in some cash. They are now done hiring people without degrees. So you must have a degree or cretificate in Chemical processing. Also the new battery plant in midland thats going up is hiring tons of workers and Im sure Chem techs or engineers is right up thier ally.
