Wondering if anyone has fished in Minnesota, specifically the Crane Lake / Rainy Lake area bordering Canada, in and around Voyageurs National Park. We are planning a family trip there in June, and I want to be clear on what is and is not in season.
I looked at the MN DNR website, and the regulations say that largemouth and smallmouth season is May - February. Said another way, it is closed March and April.
This seems very liberal to me. I've fished extensively in Michigan and Ontario for bass, and the seasons generally open some time in June. I'm happy about what I have read, but would like someone to confirm or deny that these are the regs. If anyone has fished here, I would appreciate your input.
I will probably also call a local tackle shop or resort, to be sure.
