Looking for info on ice pike

hello, it will be my first year out ice fishing and i would love to target some pike. I am from wayne county..anywhere i can catch pike that isnt a long drive? any information would be great. thanks guys! cya on the water. or ice that is :cwm27:

A great lake for pike is Proud Lake in Wixom. The best acess is at the boat launch. I won't give up my honey holes but thats a start. Also be carefull where you walk theres a strong current that runs through the lake. The ice might be 6'' in some spots 2'' in others.

Are you talking about Upper Proud lake or Lower Proud lake.
Also I thought they closed/locked the gate to the access to
both of them,during the winter(one access to both lakes)
Please let me know,I have been fishing those lakes for ten+ years
now & would love to ice fish both of them. Thanks Cooley

Its been about 6 years since I fished Proud Lake. Back then I never had a problem getting on the lake from the boat launch. I'm not sure about now though. I fished the upper and lower but most of my fishing was on the lower. I use to access the lower through the camp ground. If you want I'll meet both of you out there for some tip up action this comming weekend. I'll send you a pm a little later today.

That's how I use to access the lake as well. I'm not sure if the the other boat launch site is even open in the winter.

Hey RippinLipp - Any word on the ice on Proud?

I'm not sure on the conditions out there. Thats why I want to wait till next weekend. I'll take a ride down there in the middle of the week and check the ice. With the weather comming this week it should have some good ice as long as we stay way from the river chanel.

I'll send you a pm also and we'll all try to meet there this weekend.
(depending on ice conditions)
