Not sure if they catch much but like said above there are always people at Buell. I have fished it quite a bit in the spring and summer though.

Comingfrom 57 to Buell lake I have fished both sides of the road and did better on the left (west) side that little pot hole. Never got way out on the big lake to the other side. You will get a lot of small gills, but should get a meal from a day fishing.

i think i am gonna try the ponds out at the mounds rec area.... when i was out there ridding the quads id always see people fishing. seen a kid bring in 3 nice pike while taking a break from riding.....
anyone ever try out there.... i seen people ice fish out there before as well... just not shure whats all in there.... besides those few pike and prob a ton of gills
any other lakes freeze up good? i know the river runs thru Mott, holloway and i think kearsley..... wondering where would be safe ice.....
anyone fish the hard water on lobdell, ponemah or out at holly rec.....
whish i knew a place to get perch, i think lapeer lake gets stocked every so often.....

The gate is lock and people park in front of the gate. I don't know if you will get towed away by parking there but a lot of the times I go by there I see some people parked there. I guess you can park in there parking lot. I was also interesting in trying the Mounds out. Guess I will have to take a drive our there to see where for myself.

How'd you do jethro? I've fished the mounds many times, usually park acrossed the street at the cummings center entrance. The pond to the north of the mounds parking lot has some gills, perch, bass, crappies and a few pike. The big lake on the far east side is pretty shallow,a couple holes 13'-15' deep. Most peeps fish around the small islands on the west side of that lake but you have to really pick thru the gills to get any with size. Have caught a few nice crappies there but it has better spring time fishing.
I'm just a few miles from buell lake so i've been fishing it for 16 years and sad to say the fishing has gone down hill the 7 years.Too much fishing pressure for such a small lake but a few nice ones can be had. I usually park at the bar and walk acrossed the road, there's a small island and either side get's the most pressure.
Hasler and Potter's lake are the ones i fish the most, have a honeyhole in the millington state game area but that's another story. Hasler and Potter have some nice crappie fishing with potter having the bigger ones.Potter also has a bunch of gills in the 8"-9" range and an excellent perch population if ya know where to go.
Holloway and Mott both used to be fished hard for crappies back in the late 70's and early 80's. Hardly ever see many peeps fishin em now but can't help to think Holloway could still put out the 16"-17" crappies it used to.

RonJohn,
I was looking at Hasler lake earlier this fall. I drove to it off from hill road and could not seem to find any access to it. On a dnr website (i think) it shows a ramp off from hasler lake road.
Is it there or how do you access the lake? How is the fishing and what do you catch out of there?
I am looking to expand my fishing lakes as I am getting tired of North Lake in MIllington, Lake Fenton, and Ponemah. Any insight on Hasler lake would be great.

Quickest way for you is prolly Perry to M-15,head north about 2.5 miles and turn east on Bristol rd.Go down past Henderson rd,it turns into gravel and just before the road does a sharp turn to the north is hasler rd(i think) , it goes to the south and you follow it around and it takes you to an old trailer park. It's on the north end of the lake and it has a small box for a parking fee($2-$3) .Go straight out from boatlaunch and there's an island,i fish to the north and north-east of this island. Mostly it's fished for crappies and pike, the gills are spotty and tend to bite at twilight times. The crappies pretty much bite all day long on minnows and spikes. I have seen some crappies pushing 16" just after dark and only in one spot.

I will take a drive over today to see how the ice looks. The last time I look it didn't look so good. I fish it last year a few times and got a lot of small gills + some big enough to keep for a meal or 2. I plan on giving it a try again this year. Anyone coming over to fish Hasler give me a shout, we can look for them together.
As far as Potter, how do you get on there in the winter?

Potter road dead ends at Washburn road, hang a right. The road takes another right acrossed the creek, follow it back and you'll see a parking lot and a moneybox on a tree. You have to pay to park but if you live close it's well worth it as us northern genesee boys can burn some gas just to find a lake.
