Does anyone out there know if we need any special permits / paperwork to use our 4 wheelers in Canada? We're planning to take them to Simcoe this year, and want to make sure we do our homework in advance. Don't need any surprises at the border.
Thanks.

I don't know ALL the particulars but do KNOW that you need to show PROOF of insurance that shows you and quad are covered in Canada.....

Don't get caught w/o a helmet on, incl passengers - even if they are riding in a trailer behind the quad...:dizzy:

Also I hear it is illegal to tow a trailer, shanty, etc w/o a fixed, rigid tow bar. You can get fined for that too.

You need to carry what is called a "Canada NON-RESIDENT inter-province motor vehicle liability insurance card". You can get one for no charge from your insurance carrier and they should mail it to you if you call and request it... mine did. It is valid for one year and will contain your name, address, vehicle year, make, and serial number, the effective date (from and until), your policy number, and the agents signature. As others said, don't forget the helmet and rigid towbar. Also, zero tolerance for alchohol if you get checked from what I have heard..
On the positive side, the fishing can be well worth the ride and extra hoop

If you ever had a DUI you may not get over the boarder. My bear hunting outfitter said he lots 10 of 12 hunters a few years back because of past DUI.
