I went past the lake today via hockaday rd and saw no one on the ice. On Monday12-8-08 I saw two people on the ice one person was fishing in the small lagoon on the right as I was going north on hockaday and there was a shanty to the left. On 12-12-08 after the snow I did not see the shanty on the ice. p.s. try calling Larry's bait shop

Thanks for the input. I'll be out there in the morning. I haven't been up there in a few years. Is Larry's bait shop the place just over the bridge on the east side of Hockaday Rd? Do you have his phone #? I always like to get minnows at the local bait shops if possible.
Thanks again.

Please keep me updated on Lancer and Lancelot (Sugar Springs).
I was up there for the first time this summer and loved it.
I have a family member with property up there and am trying to make a winter trip with them too. Thanks.

I went out there on Sunday 12/14 and fished for about an hour in a cut accross the lake from the boat launch. I didn't even get a bite. I was also using minnows which is probably a big no no. I thought we were going to go to the bay but we decided to go there instead. I fished there in the summer but not the winter. What lures do you use and where? Thanks:)

that place used to be pretty sweet, you could catch alot of small pike and gills. Great for kids and getting your tip-up practice. I have not been there in years I heard they had a hot water discharge or something about 3 years ago and it killed of the vegetation and alot of fish. That is pretty much why there is never anyone there - no fish.

Dosnt lake lancer (sugar springs) not have a length limit on pike? seams like i read this some where.

We always do good on pike when we fish there.

I got a good recipe and its just as good as walleye.

Not sure of the name of the small lake i fished, but the big lake has no size limit (Lancer, Lancelot) trying to thin them out i guess.

Was up to Suger Springs yesterday on the small lake. 13 inches of ice. We ended up with 1 bass and 4 pike as well as jigging up a dozen small perch.

I Figured I would drop a report. I was on the lake on 2/21 for eight hours. Set up shop with 4 guys at the south end of the main lake. There is an extended point that is 6' and drops to 25' all around. I figured that would be prime structure but I was wrong. No weed cover or anything. 8 tip-ups out all day, not one bite. Tried to get the crew to relocate but they were more interested in the brews, jokes, and good times. Never marked anything on the vex or camera. Will try some new spots this weekend and report back. I am mostly looking for walleye when I am out there.

On the way in we passed some guys off the west end of the main lake, they had 13 pike in the sled. A few others had reported getting skunked like us.
