1 of my good rabbit spots is also full of coyotes.Ive had a couple instances when my beagle is running a rabbit and he's stumbled into a group of yotes that where bedded down.Ive always been not far behind so I think that help scare them off. Will the yotes attack a beagle.Should I be wooried .Does a bell help scare them off.Im afraid if he runs a rabbit way away from me he may get attacked.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I know my buddy that run coon hounds have had coyotes run his hounds off the tree quite a few times. Never hurt them but just run them off.

i have coyotes come in on my coondogs when they were treeing, but they never have stuck around long. My dad was hunting with a guy once that got his little feist run out of the woods by coyotes

I have had my house dogs (boxer pit mix, and american bulldog bloodhound mix) get into it with a coyote one time and there was not a mark on either dog. The boxer pit is male aggressive and is a big lump of muscle. So I am not worried about him at all. But my hounds on the other hand (2 walkers (1 is a pup) and a 16 month old redbone bitch) i get worried about them. THe hounds seem to be a whole lot less agressive.

Coyotes will attack, kill, and eat beagles. Becareful around there while running your dogs. Get someone to trap or hunt them off of your property for you.

I agree with Flooded Timber. I am always concerned about my boyz and one of the main reasons I started trapping.

Or just switch from beagle to some good running hounds and get after those yotes. I run strictly yotes . We don't shoot we catch. And I'll tell you the only looser is the yote.

I lost a beautiful beagle to a yote several years ago. Rabbit hunting and came into a clearing and there was a yote standing in the opening, yote took off and the stupid beagle started chasing it barking all the way...:dizzy:

Well after chasing after it I finally found the "remains" of the beagle about 1/2 mile away. And based upon the tracks in the area of the kill it looked like at least 3 yotes killed and ate almost 1/2 the beagle by the time I got to it........ It happened just about that quick and only took about as long as it took for me to walk that half mile. Almost like they were baiting the beagle to chase it.........

Yep wall-eye, I've heard the same scenerio told by several other people and I believe that is what the yote had in mind.

Was in the UP running a few years ago and had a pack come in on 4 beagles. We heard them yipping about a 1/4 mile away and heading towards us. Just then we heard the hounds coming in over a hill chasing a hare. The coyotes could hear the hounds because they were on top of the hill and we were on the other side in the swamp. We started yelling and carrying on but they were getting closer and closer to the hounds. We ran in and met the hounds in a small clearing at the same time atleast 5 coyotes hit the clearing on the other side. Standing about 150yds away from 3 standing in the opening and 2 more lurking inside the brush we were yelling and screaming and they were not the least bit worried. It took 2 shots from the .20ga before they finally turned and ran off. They are getting way to comfortable around hounds and hunters for me. Hyperformance1 you keep doing what your doing, I hope you get 100 or more a year. I hate them dang things. I started calling them with a caller and have had some luck but enough for my liking.

A yote will eat your beagle unless your beagle is one tough dog. I hunt yotes with guy's that run beagles on yotes. I have seen these beagles pull down a yote and start fighting. But these dogs where trained to do that.

Flooded Timber I will do my best. I get offers to come to people's places all the time to take care of the coyote problem, but with a lot of roads and depending on other property owners in the area it is sometimes to hard to get after them all.

I don't want to steal your bunnie hunting spot, for that matter I don't even run beagles, but I'd sure like a crack at calling them yotes. Give me a bump if you wanna give up the local.

I'll vouche for Oaks. Hyperformance1 if you find a spot that you can't run them with your hounds but they need to be taken care of shoot me or Oaks a PM and we will try and get them out with the calls. Oaks can talk a coyote to death with his calls.
