Heard back from a buddy who went out today.....3.5" of ice on West Twin (1000+ acres) here in town...about 2" of slop on top of that..he didn't get out until 9am and fished until 11:30am...ended up with one 24" walleye and lost another that bent his hook straight...both fish jigging which is usually not as productive as tip ups...I still wouldn't rush up and try to fish quite yet...I think after this weekend's cold snap we should be in good shape...hearing reports of guys getting onto some of the other smaller lakes for panfish also...

i stopped by there yesterday it was pretty sloppy..could see wet spots ..maybe this wind will dry it out some. although were suppiose to get more snow that will really screw it up:sad:

yep, more snow = crappy ice. Seems to be the norm lately.....slushy ice topping.

Today he said there was about another 1" of ice so it seem that the cold air is cutting through the snow, or the slush froze (more likely). He went 3 for 3 on walleye (22" biggest) and 3 pike, one was undersized the other two were pushing 29".
