I heard Woodland lake in Brighton has been locked up for the past two weeks and withstood the snow and wind, has anyone ventured out on any of the cannals or near shore to see what the ice is looking like??? It is about a 45min drive for me so any heads up would be appreciated.

One of the guys I work with lives on Woodland. He said last weekend it was frozen over and they were walking on the ice right behind his house and it was in the 2.5 to 3" range, but he told me yesterday that there were now areas of open ice. I would say by the weekend with the cold temps, parts of it might be fishable, but use caution obviously.

Thanks for the heads up. If I go it will be sunday which should give the lake time to lock back up(hopefully) and I plan on sticking to the shallows-if there is less than 3" of good ice I probably will be off the ice pretty quick.

Not sure if anyone really gets on this lake at all during ice season, but I thought I'd post an update on it. Last night the lake looked mostly locked up again but Checked the south end near a bridge and found the ice is near 1" and pretty fragile spud went through pretty quick. I guess I'll be waiting a week before I try this lake again. Stay safe out there
