Best way to hook up a GPS/Graph to get used to menu's and operation of it?....I just picked up a Lowrance LMS337 CDF and wanted to mess around with it a bit.....Do you guys just hook it up to a battery from the boat or did you buy a 12volt converter?.........Thanks Mack....also wanted to install the updates for it....

Any 12v would do. I took the 12v out of my vex to play with it in the house.

any volt ohm meter will work. harbor freight has one for $2.99. it will show - voltage if you put the terminals on the wrong side.I have used a dewalt 12 volt battery for a portable fishfinder too.I use my car/boat battery charger for a 12 volt adapter. I also use some spare 12 volt transformers from low volt lighting in my house or landscape lighting transformers.I also use vexilar/scooter 12 volt batteries . being an electrician makes it a lot easier for me ,but its not very hard.
