Hi everybody. I'm a new user to this site. Just purchased a large flat bottom boat. Looking for ideas in how to build a frame on it to mount fast grass. Would greatly appreciated your ideas and thoughts. Looking forward to getting to know you all better as the season nears. Thank you

diverdown,
I made my own "fastgrass" using 2x2's, 1x3's, and some black plastic garden fencing. I made my own panels with the 2x2's as the verical posts and the 1x3's as the cross pieces (basically, you are making a rectangle). I then stapled the black garden fencing (it looks like snow fencing)to the panels and cut it to size. The panels are 3 ft tall and 4 ft wide. I then cut cattails and used corn stalks from the garden and wove them into the panels. I cut the greenery about 3-4 weeks before the season, and it aged and browned up about the same as the natural vegetation that I was hunting in. I drilled holes in the top and bottom of the 2x2's and used plastic coated wire to attache them to each other. The nice thing is that this blind is free standing (supports its own weight) and there is no "frame" that needs to be mounted to the boat itself. The only thing that I am going to modify about it this year is to make the end pieces a trapezoid shape to angle the blind so that the ducks can't see down into it as they fly overhead, and to use plastic electricians ties instead of the wire....one snip and the blind will come down relatively quickly (and it sets up pretty fast as well. Currently, the panels are now doing double duty in my garden holding up my peas.....after that, they will be back on my boat next fall. Good luck!

Thank you both for your replies. Found a guy that will weld aluminum for me. I'm going to go that route. Thanks again!!!!
