I have a ProSport 12 On-Board battery charger in my boat. Can I leave it plugged in all winter or should I only charge it periodically?

I have my best luck keeping the batteries in the house and charging them about once a month,,my on board charger seem to over charge them when the boat set over the winter and I lost a lot of electrolyte over the winter months ,,it works fine in the summer

I too would keep them indoors. I usually stick mine on a changer in the basement once a month.

I have the same charger in 8 amp dual bank, bought it 12/12/03.
I leave the charger plugged in all winter, have not had a problem with it.

Battery Tender!;)
It's the only way to go!!! I've been doing it for yrs. with all my snowmobile,4 wheeler and boat batteries!!! Will add yrs. of life also by keeping them fully charged!! I go up north after 2-3 months and can fire up any piece of equipment I want!

Your pro sport charger is designed for long term storage after the batteries are charged. Just plug it in and forget about it. My batteries are always connected to my boat chargers and I have never had a problem. No need to buy battery tenders or anything else.
