A freind of mine purchased a 10 acre parcel w/house north of fowlerville last year. nice swamp , and high ground , perfect for him to hunt.
two nights ago he sees a guy draging a doe on the back side of his property. He went to ask what he was doing , and the guy just said , " you must be the new land owner here , I had permission to hunt this last year" . well my freind , being the the big hearted guy he is helped him to drag his deer off his property and told him , "he doesnt have permission anymore".
When they were draging the deer the guy told him a freind had hit a deer on the paved road in front of his driveway. It was a good size buck , It jumped up and ran into the swamp.
My buddy went back to the house and started working in the garadge. At about 7:30 he walks out the door , and sees flashlights in his swamp. He goes to investigate , They were looking for the deer and had found it.
The land owner said , " This is my property , don't you ask to come on it" , They said they were just retreiveing the deer they hit earleir.
It was an 8 point 20 inch spread 8 inch browtines.
DON'T PEOPLE GET IT , when your entering other peoples proprety ask and you will, 90 percent of the time, get permission to retreive a wounded animal , I just don't understand.
This happened to my cousin once. He owned some land in Park County , Indiana , many large deer. He said some guy came up to him and said he had permission to hunt next to his land.
He told my cousin it would be a shorter walk if he came across his land. My cousin said sure, just don't let your feet touch the ground.

My dad and myself lease some property and we found a
4 wheeler trail that was going through the woods. Every tree
on each side of the trail had spray paint on it with arrows giving
the direction to turn for the riders. Trout saw it is as well
and it was an unbelieveable sight to both of us.

I look at it this way: If it's not your property/land, and if you don't have permission to be on it, then STAY THE HELL OFF OF IT! Is it any wonder that landowners have become so adamant about this to the point of being "pricks" if you will, that they are trying to protect what is rightfully and legally theirs? People who disregard these laws are not deserving to be respected as outdoorsman in any sense of the word. I could go on and on about this, but will just end it here. I would just hope that common sense, decency, and a little brain power prevails!

Words of Wisdom About Trespassers
Trespassers are the biggest reason many property owners say no to the good hunters.
We would all like to give warnings to trespassers on our property but I can say for a fact, the only way to keep trespassers off your property is to prosecute. Word spreads the fastest that way to prevent future problems with would be trespassers.
CO's will not be fence walkers for anyone just to give warnings for trespass because warnings don't work and there is not enough time to get to good/important complaints little lone keeping trespassers off private property.
If you will not prosecute a trespasser, don't even bother reporting it then.

i just ran 3 guys off of my newly aquired property saturday evening. i asked them what they where doing and they told me they knew the property was sold and figuired it was still ok to hunt there. i informed them their assumptions where wrong and if they where found on my property again they would be prosecuted. 2 of the guys said sorry and started to walk off and the one guy says, you didnt have to be a dick about it. i told him he was the one being a dick by not asking me in the first place. i then called the guy i bought the property from(whom i am friends with) and told him the situation and he said the guys hunted there in the past and where told to see me about hunting there. now they not only lost hunting my property but they cannot hunt the guys 15 acres that i bought the property from.is it really that hard to ask someone to use there land.

I know asking is the easiest and only way to get permission to hunt. Many people see all the orange posted signs and think there is no way I will get permission to hunt here.
I think that people that post their land and will give permission out need signs that specify so. "This property is posted and only people with written permission are allowed on the premises.(sp)"
I used to live in Ma. and posted well over 100 acres because of littering, I had a nice beaver pond and a brook with native brookies in it. Well, I was finding beer cans and other trash all over the place. I posted it all like above and then people would stop in and ask me first and I knew who was there and if I didn't they would get prosecuted.
