The oldest banded duck was a 5 yr. old mallard drake.
I shot a bluewing in the Ind. teal season that was banded in Clandeboye Man.,just 21 days prior.
I've got several geese that were all banded near jackson, mich. All yearlings except one 2 year old.
I also shot a mallard 2 yrs ago that had a blue plastic band with the number 35 on it.
I have no idea where it came from, maybe someones pen raised bird.

I've shot a goose in 1998 that was 3 years old.I shot it in the lower detroit river and it was banded around there also. it was too young to fly when banded. I SHOT a mallard drake that was a little over a year old and was only banded 2 months prior to getting wacked. It was banded in FOAM LAKE, SASK. and was shot in the detroit river around grosse Ile. but the real kicker was this bird had 2 bands , one on each leg, the other band was a green award band for 100.00 dollars, which was a real surprise. I called it in and they sent me a check.

I actually found a skeleon from a goose that was banded in 1978. I don't know how long it had been there, but that is old.
