New to the site, so hello to everyone

Never rabbit hunted before but after being skunked deer hunting this year i'm looking for something different. I purchased a savage 17hmr some time ago and want to put it to use, fun little rifle i might add. I was wondering if you guy's could give me some pointers or tips on hunting wabbits. What kind of terrain i should be looking for fields or something with a little more cover? I know very little about them besides their furry and fast, also taste pretty good from what i hear. Thanks for everyones time

You should be lookin for thick hedge rows and brush piles also pine trees that grow all the way to the ground hold some bunnies too.Just jump on and kick every thick patch and brush pile you see no matter how small. Most of your shots will be running shots and is easier with a shotgun. You could also take a slow quiet walk in the evening around the thickets and catch them setting out feeding. If you use that .17HMR you better make head shots or use 20gr CCI game points or there isnt going to be much left to eat (LOL)

If you don't have a dog then yer kickin' brush. Better yet got a friend? I bird dog my brother all the time. He does not hunt but will go out with me and jump on the piles and kick the thick brush while I stand back at the ready. for rabbit hunting though there is nothing like hunting them with beagles.

with a 17 I would stick to the spot and stalk method... walk real slow around field edges and pine trees. look way ahead under cover and try to find one sitting.. take head shots...
or pick up a shotgun and start kicking brush..
squirrels are also fun with a 17.

Thank's guy's i appreciate the advice. Definitely not going to use the ballistic tip rounds on them, i'll check out those game points. Don't have a shotgun so i'll have to make due.

Find a corn field with a thicket on the edges. Sit a good 50 yards away and pick off the rabbits as they come out to eat. I do this with my .22
