I am wondering if anyone has this suit and how it compares to the ice armor suit. I like that it floats but in the videos it looks pretty light weight. I want to buy a ice fishing suit that is going to be very warm withought having to pile on half a dozen layers underneath it. Also does anyone know if there is anyone that carries either suit around grand rapids.

Hey umpqua, I got the Arctic Armor last year and although it is light in weight, it is really warm. In this suit, I am warmer than I have ever been, without loading myself down with layers. You definately won't need a bunch of layers underneath.
Word of advice - don't buy one without trying it on. They seem to be cut pretty large, so your usual size may be too large for you. At least that was the case with me.

Warmest and lightest suit I've ever owned.
I'm 210lbs and 6' tall and I needed an XL in both.
I also cut out the elastic cuffs in the bibs to make them easier to put on over my Ice Kings.
Here are the MI dealers.

Very happy with mine. As stated, I too wear less layers now and am warmer than ever. I'm 5'8 @ 170 and had a small, but later I passed that suit to my wife & bought another medium for me just incase I eat too much during the holiday seasons. lol
Last year a local sports shop had them 1/2 off.

Good stuff. More pockets than you'll prob ever need. But will melt if it touches your quads muffler!:p

And they do float.:yikes:

Some of the best money I have ever spent on outdoor stuff. Light and not bulky,, water proof, very warm, keeps the wind out, and floats with a big plus.

I wear some med weight thermals under jeans and a t-shirt and sweat shirt under mine and usually have to leave the zippper of the jacket down 1/4 to 1/2 to stay cool enough for my liking.

I second trying it on before buying. I am 6'00 and 220lbs and figured I would need like XL's in both tops and bottom. I ended up with a med jacket and large bib's and have plenty of room to add layers if needed.

while you are at it, get their gloves too. same as the suit, light, thin, warm and waterproof

Go to KD's and the price is right too!

Very warm suit. Hope I never have to find out how well it floats but if I do it might give me a better edge on getting out. Also the suit I chose is (red), my friends say it's like they are fishin' with Santa. D & R sports center off US131 has them but they go fast. No regrets here, but common sense will still apply when going out on the hardwater. Stay safe!

Then this is the suit for you. What have descibed above is a Ice Armor suit or essentially a shell type suit.

Got my Arctic Armor bibs and jacket for Christmas last year. Extremely light and extremely warm. I wear a light wicking base layer, sweatpants and fleece underneath with no problem on the coldest days last year. We were in Cheboygan on a few of them. My wife got them mail-order from Walleye Dan out of Minnesota and he sized them perfect for me based on her describing my height and weight.

Vexilars cold snap gear is what you want, bad thing is you can only get it online, another bad thing, most of the sizes are sold out.

You can get the Vexilar suit at KD Outdoors. I wouldn't buy the Vex suit, it's not waterproof.

Very warm suit. Best I ever bought. I'm very happy with mine. I got the camo pone and bow hunt in it when it's cold.
Hope I never have to find out how well it floats.
