Nice to see a local bait shop, I live around the corner a couple of miles away. What are your store hours going to be? I would like to stop in and say hi.

we're still waiting on the minnow retailers license to come back from the state, the shop was going to open on dec 3rd, but due to a family medical issue, it probably won't open for a few days after that, and we'll still be waiting on some stock to come in, but the taxidermy shop will be in operation. looking to open around 7 am and staying until 5 or 6 pm after the bait arrives. being as your from town, what would you like to see in the store? i'll make sure the coffee's on and i'll let you know the day we're all ready fo business. -Matt

my main thing with the bait is am i going to be able to sell it? i already have my line on who and where to get it, planning on speck minnows, sucker minnows, waxworms, mousees, and spikes. summertime will be spec/sucker minnows, waxworms, and crawlers. I think it's only gonna be limited tackle, maybe a 5'x5' spot on the wall, but i'm military, i can fit alot in 5'x5' lol. mostly tip up rigs/line, ice fishing jigs, disposable hand warmers, bait dippers, ice scoopers, and a few plastic and styrofoam bait buckets. maybe some ice line and ice creepers. i only have limited space as it is a taxidermy shop too and i'll be sharing display space with mounts lol.

Looking forward to the grand opening. Here's an idea for ya, maybe do a small Ice Fishing outing with everyone meeting at the shop some weekend before heading out to a specified local lake. Might generate some business along with meeting a couple of faces from the forum? As for supplies, just the usual bait would be nice to see. I know a few times last year there wasn't too good of a selection at some of the local stores that sell bait. They might have wax worms but no mousies or spikes. I would be glad to stop by and share a cup of java with ya sometime also. I might be out of town at the end of the week. If your up and running by this wednesday give me a pm and I will try to stop by otherwise I will stop in next week.

It seems to me that nobody sells shiners. You could be the only one.

I fish in your area regularly. Seeings that no-one ever has any. You may want to order some large sucker minnows. Like 8"ers. I'm sick of being only able to get 4" minnows in this area. Good luck on your venture, I hope it works well for you. See you in the near future.

If you want your business to prosper, do not give Paul any of the mocha lax you mentioned. Forget the fact he only lives 1/2 block away, your place will be the one that gets all the grief. I know because I hunt with him. He ruined an 80 acre goose field this fall in one morning. Haven't seen a goose land there since. Good luck with your business.

Hey!! There were geese tryin' ta land shortly after the " 'Full Moon' at day break episode". So's it couldn't have been my fault, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

On the other hand though, a mocha-lax liquid refreshment could lead to an instant disaster for a 65 yr. old. :yikes:

we got our approval tonight from the city council!!!! All things are go, we have to have the designs for the signs no later than dec 17th. anyone with aquarium or minnow tank experience that might be on here I could use some help setting em up, I have (2) 100 gal tanks to set up with aerators and filters. as far as the taxidermy side of the house, we have been operating that for 10-12 yrs and are currently taking in animals and birds. She's wanting to do some more fish and she hasn't done any in awhile, guys we could use some practice specimens.

Also, I have a 16" crappie in the freezer that I could bring in next time I'm up that way.

You forgot to carry the Woods-N-Water News magazine so people have something to read while in the shanty or bathroom after the cafe mocha. PM me and I will make sure you have the magazine in stock and ready for the opening of your store. The Argentine Sunoco is the only place near you that carries it. Good Luck with the new venture!!
