Less than 2 inches is definitely stupid. 2 inches of solid clear ice is enough to hold a light person, but that person should also make sure they know the lake, and stay in shallow. I agree, it's stupid, but if you know the water you can do it safely.

First ice is always great, just not worth putting yourself in danger over. I am a follower, I always wait for others to get out and check the ice first, then I follow. :fish:

OK guys, gonna state this once. We all have our opinions on when its safe ice. I will not tolerate arguing or throwing comments around at each other, plain and simple. Those that want to risk falling in on 1in or those not thinking 1 ft is safe, to each his own. No further comments are needed.
