Every morning this week we have had nice skim ice on lake by 11 mile bay. I am going to check the marinas today. Everyone say it with me, "early ice"!! If you haven't started already guys, now is the time to check all your gear and tackle!!

My wife was giving me a hard time last night. I just got a new
Buddy heater and was wondering how well it was going to work,
or if it was going to be better than my tent/leg burner that
I've been using. I set the shanty up on the deck. Put all my stuff
in it, fired up the buddy and sat there for an hour perfecting
my game. She called me a fishing geek and called our daughter
in Florida to tell her what a doof dad she has. BTW it worked great!
So I left it up and told her to come out and help me take it down.
After a little protesting she gave in and put on a coat and flipflops.
I zipped her up in it and ran in the house and locked the doors.
After a few cold min and some explitives I could hear through
the storm windows, she lit the heater and settled down a bit.
I called our daughter and told her that her Mom was a big fishin geek
too! What a trooper that little woman of mine of 30yrs+

I'm thinking about skipping the stand Sun and hitting what ice we have. Looks like I can get out a couple hundred yards. Its only 2 to 3 feet deep. WHY NOT!!!

For his sake, let's hope not. If my wife wanted to come along each time I went fishing, I'd have to take up a new hobby. It's just my time away and I like it that way.

We had skim ice on our lake near Hale this weekend.
Might be able to walk on it next week if the night temps maintain like they have.
