Canal Ice Report!!! 11/21

I took a ride today to check on the canals. I started at Metro so here goes...
Venetian canal...Skim ice and stained...Boat basins are open water.
Some ice starting to form in the bay just south of Harley Ensign and floating chunk ice at the ramp, but open water on the canals around Venetian street(I don't have access for those canals anyway...my friends are all too poor to live there!!!)
The long dead end canal at Selfridge has skim ice and may be OK in a few days.
Conger Bay canals at Belle Mar??? all open!
LottieView...all open near as I could tell.
The dead end canals on the north end of the bay have some skim ice,but I wouldn't try them yet.
The Raft has the best ice I found,out to the island. Give it a couple of days though.OK?
The canals at Bouvier Bay Marina are wide open but would be a good spot if you have a small boat. I have a small boat but don't have the strength to put the 8 horse back on it.
If someone wants to use it let me know....I will only ask for 1/2 your catch as compensation!!!! Cap'n Joeker taught me good!!!
I want to finish with a warning....There is NO SAFE ICE at this time...Give it a few more days,ok boys???
And yes,just riding in my truck for a few hours is puttin' a real hurt on my back. I don't know if I will be able to fish this year or not!!!DAMMIT!!!!:rant:

If anyone has a particular canal around the bay they want me to check out,let me know. I need to feel like i'm contributing one way or another!

A friend of mine just sent me a text message and said that the spillway locked up last night... I'm sure its not safe yet, but it won't be long.

figures since I was going to try and get the boat up there today :rant:

I was putting the cover on my boat for winter this morning:sick: (on campau bay) and there was a good amount of skim ice out there. Venetian was locked up also.

Nothing safe obviously, but skim ice is a start

i keep my boat in the water way way down in wyandotte like near ohio:lol:
and i had to use an oar at 12noon to break my boat out or half inch ice

Helped a buddy get his boat out of a canal in Fair Haven this Afternoon. He'll be paying for that favor for a while :evilsmile Ice in the center was at least 3" some spots closer to 4". Edges were thin and NOT walkable yet. I apologize on his behalf for breaking up the thickest ice iv'e seen so far. Please be careful out there guys!
