read some pretty funny stuff on another website and thought this was one of the best responses ever to just plain ignorance.

where on the st. joe would king salmon naturally reproduce in the mainstream? everywhere that at least offers a chance is closed due to designation or other special regulations. also king salmon are in much to high of numbers in lake michigan right now anyways. the biomass of the lake is disrupted by the king's populations. im all for controlling a nuisance species in the lake and its tribs.

"save an alewife, kill a chinook" ~A.M.

as an edit to this post i'd like to add a couple more points. the runs on the joe pre 2000 were also embelished because indiana was stocking over 500,000 chinook smolts below south bend dam in an attempt to create a salmon fishery in their waters of the st. joe. guess where 99.9% of those were taken? thats right below berrien springs dam. due to poor returns in indiana waters the stocking was ceased and more emphasis was put into skamania steelhead stockings because they would return to indiana waters in fishable numbers. why would indiana stock salmon that wouldn't return. for michigan? dont think so. the facts and DATA are there if you care too look at the numbers. however you would rather complain and blame somebody than look at the ACTUAL data. the dnr doesn't decide based on money and greed what is worth stocking. they decide whats best for a specific system based on actual DATA. im so sick and tired of hearing about the 70's and 80's. it was lazy fishing. where any shmoe could hook 50 fish. they realized the unlimited(almost) stocking of the great lakes was killing the great lakes and we are paying for it now. i dont think its greedy what they are doing now. i think its greedy and selfish that you are complaining about it. i dont have anymore to say other than get out there and fish, because i dont seem to have a problem catching the fish you guys seem to have trouble grasping outside of the year 1975.
