My vex came with a 12 volt 7 amp/hr. Yours should be the same.

you need a 12v battery... what amp*hr you want, its up to you but the least i'd get is 7.... the higher the number the longer it will run your vex. you want to ensure that its the same footprint though. I have two 12v 9A*h batteries.... one i bought at a store that has recently closed, so i don't know where to send ya now.

Don't buy the 7 amp if you can help it. My Vex came with the 9 amp. I made the mistake of buying the 7 amp when I went to Gander Mtn because it was way cheaper. But as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
Not only did the battery not last as long each trip, but it had to be replaced (bought the 9 amp) much faster than the original. I made the mistake once but I won't do it again.
Check your local stores before placing a mail order for one.

I second the 9 amp battery. I also fish in my shanty 90% of the time, so I mount a small motor cycle battery in my fish trap. I can run up to 4 days with out recharging. Just runs some wires with clips on the ends.
I bought one at Radio Shack a couple years ago when they had all there batteries on sale for 50 % off, I think I paid like 18 bucks for the 9 amp. Just another place to look if they have them on sale again, probably wont find one much cheeper than that.

I found a 12v 8amp at a local battery store for $20. You should go somewhere and take the old battery to make sure you get the right size to fit.

Any 12 volt battery will power a vex. I have used anything from a 12 volt drill battery to a large car battery. they draw very little power.any 7 - 7.2-8- or a 10 anp hour sealed lead acid battery will fit a vex box.The 10 sticks up higher . I have never used up a full charge on a 7.2 even running it all day. I use a schumacker car battery charger at 2 amps to charge. It goes down to .2 amps float when the battery is charged.the vex charger is junk but will work if you want to take 24-36 hours to charge at 500 milli amps. Any 12 volt micro processor controlled that goes to float mode (made in the last 10-20 years)charger will suffice , just do not charge them over 6 amp rate.you can cook the battery. here is the cheapest i could find today on ebay. I have a couple good used ones i would sell for $5 if you need one.

I just bought a 12V 7.2a yesterday from NAPA (Panasonic brand) for $24. When I asked them about using a standard charger they were'nt sure...now I know

Ebay is a good place to start, if not, might have to break down and buy a new one that comes with the charger. Good luck and best fishes.

msuiceman and double trouble said it best, it does not matter if it's 7 or 7.2 or 7.5 or 9 they will all work fine. The higher amp hour just gives a little more running time between charging. the 7 amp hour will give you two full days of fishing without charging. If this is not a case of "what I have is the best one" I honestly don't know what is;)
