I pulled my boat yesterday, and pressure washed it clean, however my neighbor, pulled his a while back and let the crud dry on the sides and bottom. What is the best thing to clean this off? He asked me and I said I would ask here. His boat is aluminum. Thanks

Taked to a guy at a marina, and he said they use a mild solution of muratic acid, but this dont seem like a good idea on a aluminum boat, perhaps on a fiberglass, but not aluminum, anyone else hear of this?

I have heard of it, If you want it super clean you can. Honestly I washed mine after sitting a month,The quarter car wash will take it right off.

Jim,
I did mine this spring with a mixture of 50/50 muratic acid.
After sitting all last winter the gunk fell right off.
If you don't let it sit on too long it won't hurt the aluminum.
Watch out for galvinized trailers though.
It didn't bother my painted trailer.

The aluminum should be fine, but be careful, it'll dissolve some plastics and it can fog glass pretty quick. I'd stick to pressure washing, and use a 1 x 6 (wood) for scraping if needed.
