Hello all - I've been trying to find a recipe for a pink leech or worm fly that would imitate the pink rubber worms I've been using for steelies.
Is there any particular pattern that would do so, along with keeping the hook near the back/tail?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

how about just a pink san juan worm?

I did tie a few pink leeches that a friend raved about...

size 8 2x heavy short nymph hook

1 inch pink bunny strip tied to the rear of the hook

2 turns of pink estaz for the head

he swears by it and easy to tie

I'd also look at DHise's Eggi juan Kenobi

A variation on Tommy's recipe -

Regular length hook
Bunny Strip tail
Pink Leech Yarn

So picture this, but in pink -

A few words regarding Leech Yarn. If possible, you want to get the mohair stuff. I'm just not sure if they make it in pink or not. Mohair seems to have some magic properties, I'm not sure if it translucent, or if it sparkles some how, or if it just might trap air bubbles. The other neat thing about mohair is it tends to get tangled a bit in fishes teeth, sort of like velcro, so you get an extra split second to set the hook before the fish spits it out. In any case, it's worth the effort to try to find the stuff that contains mohair.

If you can't there is other leech yarns that don't contain mohair, and they do make them in pink. The other option is to have your wife or girlfriend take you to a sewing/craft store. They sell alot of fuzzy yarns, some of which work very well for fly tying.
