So I have heard that spearing season changes may be upon us. A buddy told me that he has heard that the dnr was voting on changing the opening day to dec1 instead of jan1. Has anyone else heard anything on this?

Along the other changes they are pushing, couple gallon smelt limit and up the rod limit to 3 per person everywhere. Sounds like the earliest they hit the books is April with the new licenses and new law book.

Luckily for us, the spearing regulations take effect immediately, so 12 day's till spearing season. However, we will have to wait till next year to spear and run 3 tip-ups at the same time.

I'm really curious how the pike will behave during the month of December. I'm excited about this because now i can participate in my favorite hard-water sport for basically the whole ice season.
