You are from Jackson well then probly the 10 min. away was Gillets? Try Ford in ypsi and I herd Mud in waterloo was good as well. I like cats on ice as well I live about 5 min from gillets.

I am really looking forward to trying gillets this year for cats. Care to offer any tips? I was planning on starting out in the deep hole in front of the boat launch. I would assume it gets pretty crowded there on weekends?

I would assume it gets pretty crowded there on weekends? i have never caught them in front of boat launch-deep- during ice - but im sure they are there as the cats are every where ! i have caught crappies there and the ice usually starts there first also . i do have a secret spot and is long walk and never anyone around ! ;) the only tip is glow jigs and or beads or both wax worms and live minnows work but i have best overall luck on half minnow on glow jig as is easier to get in mouth ! edge of reeds are good also i am going to go bigger this year on tip ups ! or spoons with dropper trebleand larger baits as i checked stocking report and no stocking this year so atleast wont have pesky smalls biting all the time . but im thinking less keepers but larger size ! in my area i drill 10-20 holes before dark just to not bother them later-for bigs i think they will come to you -but i like odds of more holes ! cats do move around andthey are the smartest fish in the lake !! taste !- smell!- sight!- and hearing! all superior to every other species ! google it for more info
