44 MAG AMMO for whitetail?

Not sure which forum to post this in,but has anyone here taken a deer with a 44 Mag pistol?

I have some Hornady 44 mag 240gr JHP/XTP ammo, would this be a good choice for a whitetail?

Just bough 200 grain, exact same bullet. You'll be in good shape. It'll put a pounding on the deer. Use mine as a good close quarter swamp gun.

I used this round while boar hunting in Tenn. in February. Great knock-down power. The manufacturer's web site lists the round for both boar and deer. If I were hunting with a .44, it is the round I would use.
