"In the meantime, lake-effect snow will get underway this weekend and folks downwind of the lakes could have the first major lake-effect snow outbreak. I am talking 1-2 feet of snow, especially northern Michigan and western New York."

Now there saying 22mph winds on Sat. I'll be out there regardless but:SHOCKED:
In all the years I've been hunting, we've had two that the wind was bad enough to drive me out of the woods on opening day. The first time (1995?) we had gusts of 35-45 mph. I had trees dropping all around me. One was close enough that I finally said "enough" and got out of there. The winds calmed down later in the afternoon, and when I went back there was a tree laying across my parking spot. Had I been there, my truck would have had been smacked.
The second time was similar, but we had gotten a few inches of really wet, heavy snow and the wind was screaming. All that wet snow hanging on the trees, coupled with the wind, had branches breaking off or trees dropping all over. As I was sitting there, a tree dropped about 20 yards from me and fell literally right next to my blind. I was in the truck about 15 minutes later.

Can you add the wind speed/direction to that? I am more concerned about the wind than anything else.
Thanks
