man did i miss big time today. went out squirreling today w/ my cousin. i want a challenge so i brought my .22 w/ open steel sights. well low an behold our first sit and wait i see one... not 35 ft in front of me on a fallen log... man i wiffed. so disapointed in my self. of course before we even got out to hunt my cousin was giving me crap for not bringing the shot gun... had i, ida been eatting some pan fried squirrel tonight:o darn it.
there where still alot of leaves on the tree's yet too so it was hard to see em. and so many leaves falling that we would have never seen em moving in the tree's regardless.

Looks like you just need to spend some time at the range. I use open sights out to 65 yards and hardly miss a shot. Find a rest, breathe and shoot. Shotguns are for hunters who like accuracy by volume.

A clean miss IMO is far better than a wounded animal. Don't beat yourself up to awful much. Another day....another squirrel!!!

i regularly put 500 rounds through my gun at 50 and 60 yards and consistantly hit stationary clay targets... it was just a first one of the season personal error... thats why im so disapointed in my self... i usualy dont get buck fever.:)
