My daughter and I did our annual Daddy/Daughter Fishing/Camping trip this past weekend. The weather report didnt sound to promising but we headed north to "our spot" in the NELP, which is south of Rogers City and a little bit north of Oscoda. ;) The weather Friday night and all day Saturday was great for fishing; overcast and cool with a bit of rain mixed in now and then. Early Sunday it poured, then the sun came out. We were fishing with spawn, body baits and spoons.

This year was a bit special as Sam landed her first ever salmon! As you can see in the pic this fish was still in great shape for this time of year and it took her for a ride up and down the river for a bit before I netted it for her. We ended up catching a total of three, this nice king and two of what I was later told were coho's. They were a bit smaller than the king (*about 24 inches and 8 to 10 pounds) but very much chrome like with meat that was a vibrant pink. When I hooked the first one and it lept out of the water my first thought was steelhead! LOL! We're already looking forward to next year! :D

BTW - Thanks again to Capt Heavy for his reports and info! It was nice to meet you and Sidney! :D

Nice job man and great fish! While the numbers are down, I believe Lake Huron salmon are getting much healthier again, as every fish I've seen in my two eastside trips were in good condition, bodywise:lol:. Burks, I know where you fished most likely, glad you hit some fish. Where's the pics of the ho's bro?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, the body shape looks similar to the steelhead we hit this past weekend. Either way, good fishing man.

hard to tell from the pic but it almost does look like a steelheadThought so the first time it jumped! Sorry for the poor pic, but it was a male, the mouth is dark and the tail is wrong. Here's a link to a pick thats a dead ringer and shows its a Coho. ;)
