I've had a 30HP Mercury motor Jet Sled for several years now.

I've had numerous issues with this boat in just getting it started. I'm not mechanically inclined but I've learned a few things which have helped. When I took it out a couple months back it was OK for a while, and then it got to a point where when I turned the key it wouldn't even turn the motor over. I think it must be a starter issue.

I've had enough times where I've had to turn around and go home with this boat that I'm wanting to get something else.

The only thing I dislike about the boat itself is that the console is in the middle of the boat. I'd really like to have a console mounted towards the front. I've had trouble seeing deadheads under the water, and I'd like to gain a better vantage point. I've thought about removing my existing console, but there are weld spots holding it in place.

What I don't want to give up is my River Larry Anchor System which works excellent.

What I'd like feedback on is what the most practical way of getting into a good jet sled motor with a front mounted console.

I've been given a price to swap my boat with a new mercury jet sled motor and boat for a price around $13,500. I don't want to take out a loan because of the shaky economy. I really would like to spend less than half of that.

The boat dealerships that I've talked to don't seem to like the idea of removing my console and replacing it and the wiring along with getting a new motor. I can't remember the price but I know it cost more than my original boat.
