Anyone carry progressive OR gotten quotes from them? What was your cost/quote?

I have a 21' 1987 trophy bayliner:
insurance cost w/ progressive: $800 a yr.
boatus: $325.00 a year!

The reason I ask is i'm not sure if it was my general provider that was raping me or just progressive.
If anyone feels like getting a quote from progressive and posting the results for comparison it would be appreciated; and interesting to know.

progressive # 800-888-7764

Thanks,
Ric

Rico, I was quoted by Progressive before. While the difference wasn't as extreme as yours, they were still too high. I think that the quote was around 590. BoatUS on the same policy was around 425. Progressive online was best on auto insurance, they just fell a little short on the boat thing.

For there to be that big of a difference, though, I would assume that the coverages are set up differently.

I called about my car and they were double what I'm paying now. Geico was double also. So much for their TV ads.

I have allstate and they charged me 280 a year for a 1997 21' trophy, and I was only 20 at the time(if that makes a difference when insuring boats)

My boat is covered under home owners insurance. But I got a quote from Progessive for our cars and they were $250 higher.

Had em for both vehicles for a few years. I fell for the old line of how cheap they were. After having a claim, I was frustrated by the lack of service that comes with "big buisiness". I switched over to State Farm, and was surprised at the savings.

Hi Ric,

I'm currently using Progressive for my 1973 Luhrs 25 footer and my rate is approximately $275.00 a year. I have not had any claims with them so I can't speak to that part .

As you may or may not know, older boats are difficult to insure, however Progressive was glad to do it with no hassles at all.

I have had Citizens Ins on my '92 Monark Pontoon w/ 90 hp merc. I pay $214 a year, and I saw every bodies post from last week about geting your ins dropped to fire and theft. I called my agent and he said I pay the lower rate because they already included the 6months storage in the rate. It is insured for the original value of $17,000 and that includes the sunbrella full canvas enclosure w/windows and screen...tell progressive to get competive! Ha!
