Hey Guys , Just a quick question. My Bull Terrier consumed a entire rabbit last nite. Other than the usual side effects vomiting, wile bowel, is there anything that I should be on the lookout for? She ate the entire critter in under 5 minutes. She is bloated this morning but seems "normal". Thanks for the help!

You may want to call a vet. The dog could get tapeworm from eating the flees on the rabbit. Not the end of the world, but might be worth watching out for.

i believe feas and tape works have nothing to do with each other.
your dog will perhaps have a belly ache , much as you would if gorged on steak. but should be fine by the time we respond to this.

Dogs contract tapeworm from the fleas on a rabbit, the beagle boys get them quite often.

Other than that you shouldn't worry. The tapeworm will take a while to grow and isn't a severe health risk. Just keep an eye on the stools for the noxet few months and/or weight loss. The stools will have tiny pieces of tape worm, about the size of rice and will wiggle. Go to the vet with a small stool sample and they'll fix you up.

You may want to check this out, summer fever or tularemia

Thanks guys, I was a little worried because she was so bloated. Well, she passed most of it in her kennel!! Took me awhile to get it cleaned up but she seems no worse for wear. I will keep an eye on her stools for any trouble signs. Thanks again!
