Hey Everbody- Our 5th Annual Perch Tournament scheduled for this coming Sunday, currently only has about 10-12 boats signed up to fish. The MOMC is considering moving this event back two weeks onto Sunday November 2nd to try and increase the participation. The fishing up to this point, has not been the greatest due to the warm weather we have had. This event typically has 20-30 boats fish. We would like to know what everone's thoughts are on the this. The MOMC year would be closed and done by the November 2nd date as far as the Muskie fishing is concerned. Let us hear what you think........:rant::rant:
Thanks,

Dave Rybicki
MOMC Vice President/Perch derby committee

Although I have no handle on the big Perch this year so far, you need to make a decision now. My son is skipping his homecomeing to fish this and can no longer get a ticket to go from what he tells me. Whats the bottom line?

:yeahthat:

And if possible have someone announce the decision today on ch. 80.

Alot of us, myself included, will be on the water all day.

If I have to call my crew to cancel this, it cant be at midnight tonight....

With all due respect...We clearly understand the need for a quick decision on and GO or NO GO answer.

We will be reviewing the entrants list today, and will make our decision by 5pm tonight.

The CUT OFF time for tournament sign up is 5pm tonight, which works as a double edged sword. (Always some last minute Joes' out there)

This CUT OFF time, unfortunately & fortunately, allows people opportunity to sign up last minute. This makes things bad for us holding the tournament, for planning purposes.....but better for those fishing with an improved payout purse.

Please give us the same opportunity to make our decision, as we have been asked repeatedly over the previous years, to extend our entry time frame CUT OFF.

Due to the lack of participation for this Sunday's 5th annual MOMC perch tournament the tournament commitee has decided to reschedule this event for next Sunday October 26th. The times will remain the same. If you are planning on fishing this event, please get your entry money ($150 per boat) to any MOMC board of directors or to the MOMC p.o. box this week. The cutoff will be next Saturday @ 5:00 pm. A minimum of 15 boats is needed for the tournament to be a go. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused any of you. For further information on this event, see the MOMC website or call Scott D'Eath @ 810-650-2818 or Dave Rybicki @ 586-438-1200 or Mike Hurley @ 586-534-1197.

I myself was a last-minute "joe", only due to work schedules from my crew.

When the final decision came Thurs. afternoon, I ran down (not mailed:D)to the post office in SCS so the club would have our entry by Saturday.

Of course its impossible to know how many boats will enter a tournament, I'm not sure if rescheduling to a later date will improve attendance. I know I won't be able to fish, we were really hoping to.

Last minute changes/decisions are hard on those planning and those attending, hopefully there's a good turnout next weekend...

Meetings tonight, I'm sure it will be posted on here sometime tomorrow.
Would have attended, however was too damn cold from being on the water all day.
From the road driving by it looked like a good turnout, hopefully they were all there in support of the Derby!

FYI

We reviewed the Perch Derby tonight at the General Membership Meeting. Due to lack of participation, and a very poor forcast for this weekend, the 5th Annual MOMC Perch Derby has been cancelled.

Apologies to all the entrants who submitted their entry and such, plus waited us out last weekend, when it was postponed til this weekend. Will will be sending back your entry fees this week.

We will revamp the Perch Tournament Rules for next season, and give it another go then. Hopefully the minnow situation and ecomony will have improved.

Again, apologies to all involved, but we are NOT going to host a tournament for less than 10 boats. We are open to suggestions to help make next years tournament a more viable outcome. Guessing the minnow deal, our ecomony and other factors diminished the turnout compared to years past for this event.

Best Regards
