What week for vacation 1st week of november or 2nd???

I just dont know which week and have to let my boss know tomorrow. I just know the will be a full moon the 2nd week. What do you all think?

I always take the week leading up to gun season, but some years I miss the best action. With the full moon for the second week, the first week sounds much better. Full moon hunting really bites. Just my $.02

deer will chase 5 days prior to the 2nd moon past the autumn equinox (usually sept 22nd) so I say 2nd week.

First week for sure! According to CBM, November 6th is the best day afield. This day has the highest number of record book bucks harvested in Michigan. :cool:

Do you want to combine some gun and bow, or strictly bow hunt.
It you are more interested in bow only, I would take the first week for a nine day (1st - 9th) bow hunt. If you take the second week off you can bow hunt 7 days (8th - 14th) and gun hunt on the 15th and 16th.
I will probably take the second option myself since my dad really likes rifle season.

I'll be hunting from Nov. 1st threw the 9th. I think there's lots of activity and some of the best deer hunting during that first week.


You really can't go wrong. A week off just to deer hunt is fantastic any time you can do it!!

Thanks Too ! I wasn`t sure which time I was going to take off and have now scratched in the 5th -9th . I`m not a big fan of the full moon . Switched time off for Rifle to time off for Archery .

I think Joe has it right. First week if you are interested in bow only and the second if you want to combine gun hunting with your vacation time. The main reason I don't like the second week of Novemebr as well as the first is that you can end up with a lot of activity in the woods as rifle hunters are setting up camp, sighting in, checking stands, etc. Obviously that can vary depending on the area.

Nov 1 - 5th WILL be the best time to be in the woods this year.

Now, being that I have the Shiawassee Federal Refuge either sex bowhunt those 5 days did not affect my opinion!!:evil:

Seriously though, first week seems to be better. It seems sometime that 2nd week of November the bucks just get locked up with the does for a 2-3 day period.
