With such a nice night I decided to loose some blood to the bugs and burn a stand. A couple fawns came out early and then around seven a doe, her twin fawns, and her doe yearling went pass my stand just inside the woods. They entered a thicket, stopped, turned, and came back. I had a pretty good idea what turned them and quickly got the bow off the hook and the release on the string. Sure enough out pops a wide, tall eight point, a shooter for sure, grunting to let them know his day is coming! Had plenty of time for a shot at maybe 15 yards, but with a very busy weekend harvesting crop ahead of me decided to let him walk and not take the risk of a misplaced shot or hard tracking job at night. I must be getting old because thoughts like that would have never entered my mind in years past. He's still walking, I still have eleven virgins in the woods, and I might just get another chance at him. I'm all smiles after my first night out. Looks like a nice weekend for hunting with cold mornings and still nights. Best of luck if you go.
