Was wondering if anyone has ever shot a albino squirel?....The reason I ask is that I hunted a stand this morning that I had seen one a couple years back...and yes I'm kicking myself in the butt for not hunting it after deer hunting.....But was wondering if anyone has even seen one much less shot one.......Mack

if you get on, dont cut it... freeze it and laugh all the way to the bank cuz you'll be rich if you sell it. im dead serious.

have never seen one. but i never saw a flying squirrel in the woods till a couple years ago. wonderful thing about hunting small game is you see new stuff all the time. no matter how long you've been at it.

There's a lot that have white in them in the park by the river in Lansing. We had a meet-n-greet there one day. I'm thinking it was Moore's Park?
I believe it is something int the genetics there, looked weird.

My dad shot an albino a long time ago, probably 30 yrs, Had it mounted, pink eyes n all. Then some Bast#%d$ broke into our home, they stole that and the bobcat/lynx cross that was a cool rug among other things.
If you ever see one mounted on a crook of a limb eating a walnut..........
or a big bobcat with small tufts on the ears......

You might want to make sure it isn't illegal to shoot them. I am pretty sure it isn't legal to shoot an albino deer or turkey. Not sure if the same would apply for a 'tree rat'.

They just made albino deer legal to take. I wondered about piebald though, didn't read anything about that at all.

i never understood the thing about not shooting an albino. its a genetic defect and needs to be taken out the gene pool.

John, I agree although it is a recessive gene.

I highly doubt someone is going to get rich from an albino squirrel.

In the early 60's there were alot of white squirrels around Ackerson lake in Jackson county. There is also a town in Ill. that is famous for them.

Piebald have always been legal. Thats partly why the albino law was hard to enforce.

Theres a tank and a half of gas. Not including the price to have one mounted. Hardly getting rich.

I hunt a farm in Cass County near the town of Jones. Last year I watched a white squirrel just about every day. The other squirrels did not like it very well, or it was a female and the males were chasing her! It had a touch of brown on his tail hairs.
This year if I see it again I will shoot it.
