Well, I have loaded about 50 rounds using various amounts of H4831 with Hornady 165 grain bullets. Nothing else to do but go out and give them a try. Being new to this, what exactly am I looking for in different loads? Is there really that much difference in the 55 grain and the 58 grain shells? Thanks all

Hunter,
What you are looking for now is accuracy. Take your time and fire your loads at a measured range (usually 10 yards) and let your barrel cool a bit between firings, and between firing groups. those little orange dots that they sell help to give you a clear, defined aiming point, and you can stick 4-5 on a large target and get your results. Then measure your groups with a ruler to find out which is the most accurate (center of one bullet hole to the center of the farthest bullet hole). There can be a big difference between a 55 grain load and a 58 grain load, but you never know until you shoot them; guns are like individuals....they each have their own particular quirks. Is it worth it? Ask me that again when that 12 pointer appears at 225 yards on opening day, and you take him with one shot! Good luck!

Well, they all made it out of the gun and I am still alive :) I am still not good at holding still so I am not yet able to shoot like I would like. Practice, practice, practice. It was so cool hearing that crack as my round went off. Cant wait to do some more loading now!!
