OK, I lost a gallon of emeralds today due to my bait well pump experiencing problems. I thought it was my timer but when I replaced it, nothing. Went back and tapped on the pump assembly and it kicked on. Took it apart and it didn't look too bad. Does this sould like a pump motor problem or is it in need of a good internal cleaning? Here's the specs on the pump:

If your connections leading to the pump are good then the bearings are shot in the pump. I would replace the pump.

I think that is the case. I'll order a new one today. The price is less than the gallon of minnows I lost. :(

Yeah I ya brotha. When you consider cost of gas, your time and everything else that goes into a fishing trip replacing the motor is probably best. I'm assuming the bushing/bearing in the motor is shot. I had the same problem with mine so I replaced the pumps on each livewell. May as well do it when your have everything apart. Good luck.

I just had this happen with my bilge pump. Same thing... tapped it and it came on but didn't run at the same rate as it did before. I have a few lose rivets so I get water in my boat and this auto pump is what keeps me afloat!! Luckily I had a spare with me... swapped it out on the water and all is well.
