Rattler,
Going through my reloading notebook, I found only one load that was accurate using IMR 3031 powder. I used a CCI 200 grain primer and Sierra 150 grain pro-hunter bullet. Since I am not to keen on giving out charge weights over the net, and each load should be worked up for an individual rifle, I will let you figure out that part for yourself. I do not use this load, as I reload for a semi-auto rifle, and this load failed to consistantly operate the action. I have had better luck with Winchester 748, Hodgdon335, and Hogdon H414. Good luck and good shooting.

Rattler welcome to this site. Now for the 308 I like RL15 in my 308. It gives the highest velocities with the 165 grain Speer Grand Slam. Each rifle is it's own little thing as far as accuracy goes.

Thanks fellas, I shoot alot of .223 and .25-06, but just starting to learn the .308. I think I'll try IMR-3031 and W-748 to start. Rattler 13.

IMR-3031, although not the best powder for the .308, is suitable for bullet weights from 110 grain to 200 grain.

Go to http://www.again.net/~steve/page8a.htm and take a look.

Rattler 13, I pesonally like IMR-3031 in my .308. I have a Rem. 700 Heavy Varmint Barrel 24". It really likes this load.
Sierra 168gr. HPBT Match bullet, 39.0gr. of 3031, CCI BR-2 primer, Norma Brass, OAL. is 2.950". With this load I average .3" groups at 100yrds. My rifle also likes 125gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips, 50.5gr. of 748. this load generally groups in the .1's & .2's". I hope this helps you. As always these loads are safe in my particular rifle, they may not be safe in others. Always work up loads safely. See ya, Blazer
