Went out last last night after work. Sat in my usual spot...state land, on the ground, no blind, with my bow.
After the sun pasted the tree tops, the woods started to get active. Heard some critters south of me, squirels running all around me, and a few turkeys "peeping".
Then I look straight ahead of me and out comes a spike from the thick stuff...walking right towards me. I froze and when I did, was sitting in an ackward position. My right leg started to shake because my foot wasn't completely down on the ground. The spike noticed. He looked my direction but his curiousity got him, and kept walking to me! He got within 12yrds of me and when he put his head down, I pulled back. He jumped and ran about 10ft and then, turned and walked again towards me, looking at me as to say "What the heck is that?" He again dropped his head to eat something and I pulled back again..this time he was outta there.
So I watched him take off and also noticed another buck behind him take off as well.
Oh well, thats hunting. But it was great having that experience.
