i just joined the forum and wanted to start it off right. i like hunting i just dont have anyone to show me the ropes. no one in my family hunt so i never had anyone that could show me how to hunt or skin, which are thing i want to learn. i have hunted turkey and liked it. i would love for someone to go hunting with, i have my own guns, ammo and most other thing i need. i live in metro detroit and am willing to drive at most a couple hours because i am only working part time and am a full time student. i am a 24 year old male thats trying to start somewhere. if anyone needs a hunting buddy call me, my name is chris 1(313)408-1166 :)
or pm or post if anyone has any questions thanks

Do you have a hunter safety licence and have it on hand?

If you want to learn about hunting, start reading about deer habits and habitat.

i took my hunters saftey class last year and i am looking for more hands on kind of stuff. i have been reading as much as possible but i still dont know what to do when it comes to gutting or skinning if i were to get something. i see no point in killing to not use the animal for something

The stickies are the articles with the push pins in them at the top of the hunting forums. Read the deer hunting stickies. You can also review the archive on gutting a deer. Just type in "Gutting a deer" and you should get all the helpful hints and some step by step pictures showing how to gut your deer. If you plan to take your deer to a proccessor, there's no need to skinn it. Neal

Chris,

I also need a huntin' buddy & being 50 years old & the son of an ex-taxidermist I could definately teach you how to feild dress & care for anything from red squirrels to elk (though I've only gutted one of those!). Unfortunately, the distance is probably too much. You'd be better off with someone in Macomb Co. or somwhere near I-94. If you don't mind the drive I can show you some spots in Bald Mt., I have no (hunting) dog though. Let me know if you're interested. John H.

I'm a couple of hours away from you but would be willing to take you squirrel hunting if you want. I'm located West of Chesaning about 10 miles. I'm on the southern edge of the Gratiot/Saginaw State Game area. I have Treeing Feist squirrel dogs.

i first want to learn small game hunting for myself and i have two younger brothers that would like to get into hunting but i have no one to show us how. i have a ruger 10/22, ruger mark 3 .22 and a shotgun so i dont even need a gun for small game. just wanted to give a little more info so everyone gets a better idea of what i want out of a trip in the woods.

That's a good attitude to have! I usually go on state land when i can, but i'm near the flint area, buy you're only about 2 years younger than I. PM me we'll see if we can figure things out.

Another Pole in the woods is a good thing! Polska!

During this part of the year I'm pretty busy with bird hunting and deer hunting. I don't get out much for serious rabbit hunting until some time in December. I would be more than happy to meet you somewhere to hunt with my beagle in December. PM me sometime around then to remind me.
