Sorry to put this in the reloading section, but with the drive for accuracy I thought maybe someone would have experience with accurate .22s.
I am interested in both a semi .22, and a bolt. I thought I was going to get a Ruger 10/22T, and a cheap bolt action. Then I ran into a rem. 541-T. I have rad lots of good things about this rifle. It seems that with minimal or no work, it comes near some of Anshutz (sp.?) rifles, and less expensive than light custom worked guns. This gun has already had its trigger played with. I will have to see about free floating and bedding.
I was also told that the difference in accuracy between a standard 10/22 and the heavy barrel version is very minimal. The suggestion is to buy the 541 first, then save money and buy a 10/22, get a HB stock, and drop in a carbon fiber barrel. Seems like the 10/22 carbon will wind up barely more expensive than the factory 10/22T.
Should I be concerned about parts for the 541? It is a sporter, not a heavy Barrel, and the 541 has been discontinued.
"Fire away", with the recommendations.
